For 10 years now, DeKalb County Commissioner Kathie Gannon has sponsored an annual food drive to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Many DeKalb County officials, such as Solicitor-General Donna Coleman-Stribling, Clerk of Superior Court Debra DeBerry, Tax Commissioner Irvin Johnson, and District Attorney Sherry Boston, as well as local libraries and senior centers are working with Gannon in her efforts.

The food drive begins on Feb. 12 and goes through March 8.

Those interested in donating items can drop off food at one of these places:

– Maloof Administrative Building, 1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur, GA 30030

– Tax Commissioner’s office, 4380 Memorial Drive, Decatur, GA 30032

– Any DeKalb County library

– Any DeKalb County senior center

In addition to food donations, online monetary donations help, too, especially as “they are more efficient in providing meals,” according to a recent press release.

“Last year 3,099 pounds of food were collected, and $535 in online donations were made to the Atlanta Community Food Bank,” reported a recent press release. “Together they created 4,723 meals.”
