A driver is facing a DUI charge after flipping her car into a ditch in front of College Heights Early Childhood learning center on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 13.

Police confirmed they had responded to the accident on South McDonough Street.

A witness who sent photos to Decaturish said the vehicle was towed away shortly after the accident occurred.

“No idea how she did this, but she seemed OK once [she was] out of the car,” the reader said.

According to Decatur Police, “On Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at approximately 4:34pm, Decatur Police responded to a single car accident on South McDonough Street at Garland Avenue. The vehicle was traveling northbound on South McDonough Street when the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a utility pole and tree. The vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof. The driver was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. The driver was charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane and released on citations.”
