The good news: no one was injured in a two vehicle collision on North Druid Hills Road near Blackshear Drive that occurred Thursday morning, March 14. .

The bad news: that section of the road was closed both directions for most of the day because the vehicles hit a fire hydrant, sending water gushing into a resident’s yard and potentially compromising the safety of the road. The road was closed between Blackshear and Clairmont Road.

The road has reopened as of 6:40 p.m.

Here was the scene around 11 a.m.

According to someone on the scene, it had been going like this since 6:30 a.m.

A spokesperson for the Police Department told Decaturish, “Two vehicles collided on N Druid Hills Road and one of the vehicles left the roadway and struck a fire hydrant. The hydrant was damaged and a significant amount of rapidly flowing water flowed from the hydrant causing water damage to N Druid Hills Rd to the point the roadway was unsafe, and therefore had to be shut down in both directions.”
