Decatur Lantern Parade returns May 10, registration for lantern workshops open now

On Friday, May 10, the Decatur Lantern Parade is back. The parade lineup will begin at 8 p.m. at the Color Wheel Studio, located at 508 East Howard Avenue in Decatur, and the parade will start its procession at 9 p.m.
“Everyone is invited to make a lantern and walk in the parade,” a press release for the event says. “Line-up with your lantern at Color Wheel Studio after 8 p.m. Be ready to step-off at 9 p.m.”
Live music by the Black Sheep Ensemble and Wasted Potential Brass Band will accompany attendees in the parade as well.
Festival goers are encouraged to attend one of the local lantern-making workshops or to construct a lantern at home with a lantern kit sold at Kelly’s Market, located at 308 East Howard Avenue in Decatur. These kits include globe lantern kits, illuminated parasol kits, and cat lantern kits.
