Decatur Tree Panel to address concern of decline in local canopies

On Monday, May 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Decatur Tree Panel will be held at Decatur First United Methodist Church CAYA Chapel, located at 318 Sycamore Street.

Sponsored by Decatur First United Methodist Church Caring for Creation Committee and Trees Atlanta, the panel will address Decatur’s tree canopy loss and cover questions such as, “Why is our urban forest special?” and “What’s the best way to preserve trees, soil and watershed?”

Panelists will include the following, as listed in a recent press release:

– Dr. Jacquelyn Echols, Board President, South River Watershed Alliance

– Howard Katzman, Former Builder / EarthCraft Technical Advisor

– Kathryn Kolb, Executive Director, Eco-Addendum / Master Naturalist

– Amy Landesberg, Decatur Architect, LEED, AP
