On Friday, May 24, the Decatur High School quiz bowl team is going to the National Championship Tournament to compete against more than 300 other high school teams.

“Quiz bowl is a competitive, academic, interscholastic activity for teams of four students” that answer questions about a variety of subjects such as science, math, literature, sports, mythology, current events, popular culture and more, according to a recent press release.

Decatur High’s quiz bowl team has been to the National Championship Tournament two other times before, once back in 2017. This year’s team members are: Max Bee-Lindgren, Julian Daniel, Aaron Lam, Joey Manasso, Keon Sanavandi, Ethan Smith, Adrien Tirouvanziam, and Lydia Witter, and the team’s coach is Alex Sawyer.

Decatur will be in competition with other local high school quiz bowl teams, such as Grady, Paideia, and Westminster, all from Atlanta.
