(UPDATE) Decatur Police investigating murder at Trinity Walk Apartments, victim identified

The Decatur Police Department is investigating a murder at the Trinity Walk apartments.

Lt. Jennifer Ross said, “On Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at approximately 4:25 pm, Decatur Police responded to a call for a welfare check of a resident at 421 West Trinity Place. Officers arrived and located a deceased adult male. This case is being investigated as an apparent homicide. The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Keonte Rapheal Metts of Decatur.

“City of Decatur Police Criminal Investigations Division are investigating with the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations. This the second murder in Decatur this year. The first murder occurred on Jan. 2. According to police, Ranie Overman died after her fiance shot her on Jan. 2 at the Courtyard by Mariott in Decatur. Her killer, Jerry Loch, committed suicide.
