During the week of May 13, DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston will be participating in an educational trip to Europe for prosecutors, funded by the nonprofit, Fair and Just Prosecution.

Boston was chosen to go on the trip, and according to a recent press release, she “will join a team of nearly two dozen elected U.S. prosecutors.” Half of the trip will take place in Germany, and the other half will take place in Portugal, which is where Boston will be.

During the trip, prosecutors will be studying “innovative criminal justice models” through meetings will professionals and tours of prisons as well as treatment centers. Their goal is to “gather insight about strategies for decreasing incarceration and improving criminal justice approaches,” according to a recent press release.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to dialogue with leaders and experts in other countries about their programs and unique approaches to criminal justice reform that may benefit DeKalb County,” Boston said in a recent press release. “Prosecution is not ‘one size fits all.’ My team and I are committed to strategies that balance offender accountability with prevention, intervention, and restorative justice. I look forward to listening and learning.”
