DeKalb County, Decatur adjust trash collection schedules for Memorial Day

DeKalb County has announced its revised trash collection schedule for Memorial Day weekend.

The city of Decatur will also be pushing back trash collection by one day.

In observance of the holiday on Monday, May 27, garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings collection for residential customers in DeKalb County will run one day late.

The revised collection schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, May 27: No sanitation collection service.
  • Tuesday, May 28: Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Monday, May 27, will be serviced on Tuesday, May 28.
  • Wednesday, May 29: Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Tuesday, May 28, will be serviced on Wednesday, May 29.
  • Thursday, May 30: Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Wednesday, May 29, will be serviced on Thursday, May 30.
  • Friday, May 31: Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Thursday, May 30, will be serviced on Friday, May 31.

In addition, the Sanitation Division’s administrative office, Central and North Transfer Stations and Seminole Road Landfill will be closed on Monday, May 27, and will reopen on Tuesday, May 28, during normal operating hours.

The city of Decatur will also observe Memorial Day. Trash usually collected on Monday, May 27, will be collected on Tuesday, May 28, and trash usually collected on Tuesday will be collected on Wednesday, May 29.
