Next month, the DeKalb County Sanitation Division will host a free paper shredding event as part of the Operation Clean Sweep 2019 initiative.

According to a county press release, Operation Clean Sweep 2019 is a multidepartmental initiative focused on litter collection, illegal dumping and removing debris, trash and grass from streets, neighborhoods, sidewalks, roadway drains and county rights of way.

At the event, DeKalb residents can dispose of up to 10 standard-size boxes of paper. All documents will be shredded onsite and shredding services will be provided by A1 Shredding & Recycling.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 15, from 8 a.m. until noon, at the DeKalb County Sanitation Division’s Central Transfer Station, located at 3720 Leroy Scott Drive in Decatur.

The event is free, but it is open only to DeKalb County residents within the Sanitation Division service area. Proof of residency may be requested, according to the county.
