On Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17, at 7 p.m., the Lakeside High School Band is putting on their end of the year concerts.

Held in Lakeside’s Fine Arts Auditorium, located at 3801 Briarcliff Road in Atlanta, both concerts are free and open to the public.

However, each night will have a mixture of different students and a blend of different pop and classical music. Younger band members will go up on the stage on May 16, and older members will perform on May 17.

On Thursday night, musical selections will include pieces from “The Lion King,” “Greatest Showman,” and Scarborough Fair.

On Friday night, musical selections will include “Marquez’s Danzon No. 2” and “America the Beautiful” as well. In addition, the concert will feature musical performances by elementary and middle schoolers involved in the annual Cluster Concert, which allows for younger students to see what a high school band feels like.

“The two concerts are designed to feature different musical selections and showcase different students so parents, friends and neighbors are encouraged to come to both performances,” Lakeside’s director of bands, Dr. David Fairchild said. “By bringing the elementary, middle and high school students together for one gala performance, we hope to inspire all of the musicians to continue to enjoy music through high school and beyond.”
