Decaturish hits major milestone
We did it.
Decaturish set a goal of reaching 600 subscribers by the end of June and we’re more than two weeks ahead of schedule. There are now 600 people, your friends and neighbors, stepping up to support free community news. With their support, we’ll be able to send our capable reporters to more places so they can continue covering your community.
With municipal elections approaching, your support will go a long way toward helping us cover these important local races. It’s in-depth coverage you won’t find anywhere else. We’re filling a niche, keeping people in the loop about what’s going on while also shining a light on the dark corners of our local government. Holding our officials accountable for their actions won’t make us popular among some members of our community, particularly people who benefit from the status quo. Unfortunately for them, we aren’t here to protect the powerful. We’re here to make sure they are conducting the public’s business in a way that’s in the public’s best interest. And, thanks to your support, we will continue doing that.
We also can continue covering the other things you care about like community meetings, local do-gooders doing good and new restaurant openings. There’s so much happening in our community, so many stories that need to be told. We can’t do that without your help and support.
Readers, thank you for stepping up and making this milestone happen.
Not a subscriber yet? We need all the help we can get. We have about 60,000 readers a month and only 1 percent of them support us. Join your friends and neighbors in supporting local journalism. Stop what you’re doing, right now, and sign up to become a paid Decaturish subscriber.
