Construction crews hit a gas line on Thursday morning, June 6, causing a leak that temporarily shut down East Ponce De Leon Avenue between Commerce Drive and Glennwood Elementary School.

The Fire Department said no one had been evacuated from the area and that the gas seemed “to be dispersing pretty rapidly.”

A witness said the Fire Department told people living on the street to stay inside until the situation was resolved. The road has reopened.
