On Wednesday, July 17, at 6:30 p.m., the DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will be holding the first of a series of public meetings to discuss the draft of a master plan for the Avondale Dunaire Park and the George Luther Drive Property.

The meeting will be held at 4572 Memorial Drive in Decatur, and the meeting will be held in training room A.

Avondale Dunaire Park has around 16 acres of land on George Luther Drive. In addition, DeKalb County bought 14 acres of land at the Georgia Department of Transportation site in 2018, which runs adjacent to the 16 acres.

In addition, according to a recent press release, Commissioner Steve Bradshaw dedicated $65,000 in 2018 for a master plan study of the 30 acres of land, and part of the study included a community engagement portion.

“These community meetings will provide opportunities for constituents to give their ideas on enhancements to the soccer fields already being used at Avondale Dunaire Park and incorporating the adjacent George Luther Drive property,” Commissioner Steve Bradshaw said in a recent press release. “I look forward to hearing suggestions from constituents.”
