Decatur Police say a pedestrian went to the hospital and the driver who hit her was cited following a collision on Sunday, July 21.

Police Lt. Jennifer Ross said police responded to the incident at West Ponce de Leon Avenue and Ponce de Leon Place around 9:11 p.m.

“The accident investigation revealed that a silver 2008 Scion XD was traveling westbound on West Ponce de Leon Avenue attempting to turn left, southbound onto Ponce de Leon Place,” Ross said. “The pedestrian was walking westbound within the crosswalk on West Ponce de Leon Avenue, crossing Ponce de Leon Place with the walk signal. The pedestrian was struck by the front fender of the Scion. The pedestrian had a visible abrasion to one of her legs and complained of head and abdominal pain. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. The driver of the Scion was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.”
