Atlanta Police say an e-scooter rider declined medical treatment and received a citation following a collision on Aug. 27.

The incident happened at Rocky Ford Road and DeKalb Avenue around 7 p.m.

“Upon the officers arrival, they met with a male who stated he was struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter,” the Atlanta Police Department said. “The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. The male scooter rider complained of back pain, but refused any medical treatment.  Upon further investigation, the scooter rider was found to be at fault and was cited for failure to obey traffic control device.”

Police said the scooter involved was a “dockless electric scooter.”
