DeKalb County hosting second open house for Memorial Drive corridor project
Late this month, DeKalb County will host a public design workshop and open house for the ongoing Memorial Drive corridor revitalization project.
The project, which has been in its main planning process since June but has been ongoing since as far back as 2014, will aim to ““to enhance the long-term economic viability” of the corridor through beautification, mixed-use development and other investments in the area, according to the project website.
The next open house, which is the second in a series of four events, will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the DeKalb Conference Center at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, located at 495 North Indian Creek Dr. in Clarkston.
The open house will begin around 1 p.m. and last until 4 p.m. During the multi-phased meeting, the county’s planning team will work to develop conceptual ideas for the future of the corridor and invites community participation and feedback.
The meeting will follow the tentative schedule below, but people can drop in at any time:
– 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.: Freeform Planning Work: The planning team will be developing initial ideas and concepts to be further explored later in the evening.
– 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.: Transition to Open House: The planning team will be focused on finalizing initial concepts and ideas so they are presentation ready for the evening’s open house.
– 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.: Open House: The planning team will present ideas developed during the afternoon and look for feedback.
– 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Presentations: The planning team will develop brief presentations to summarize ideas captured and establish the next steps in the planning process.
