Qualifying Day 1: Who qualified to run for elected office in Decatur, Avondale Estates and Tucker?

Qualifying for the Nov. 5 city elections in Decatur, Avondale Estates and Tucker began Monday, Aug. 19. Several candidates qualified to run for City Commission and School Board in Decatur, City Commission in Avondale Estates and City Council in Tucker.
There are some candidates who have announced plans to run but haven’t filed their qualification papers yet. Some candidates have qualified but haven’t made official announcements yet. Announcements for each candidate will be posted as they are received. If you have a campaign announcement, send it to [email protected] Be sure to include a photo, preferably one that’s 640 by 420.

Qualifying in Decatur ends on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Qualifying in Avondale Estates and Tucker will end on Aug. 23. For information about how to qualify in each city, click here. Decaturish.com will provide a list of candidates who have qualified for local elections following each day of qualifying.

District 1, Post B – James Herndon
At-large – Jana Johnson-Davis

Mayor – Clai Brown
City Commission – Candace Jones
City Commission – Dee Merriam
– As of Aug. 19, the following candidates have qualified to run for Tucker City Council:
District 1 – Post 2 – Bill Rosenfeld (Incumbent)
District 2 – Post 2 – Noelle Monferdini (Incumbent)
District 3 – Post 2 – Anne Lerner (Incumbent)
Voter registration for the Nov. 5 municipal elections will end Oct. 7. Early voting will start on Oct. 14.
