Beginning Sept. 17, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will begin work on upgrading a major intersection in Avondale Estates, according to a news update from the city.

GDOT will upgrade the intersection of North Avondale Road and North Clarendon Avenue – a centrally located intersection – to add pedestrian signalization, repair broken curbs and sidewalks and address drainage issues.

Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. with the project scheduled to be completed by next February, the city said.

Businesses will be open throughout construction and contractors will provide a clear and safe pedestrian path when working in front of a business.
