Mike Blydenstein, a chef who worked at The Pinewood in Decatur, passed away over the weekend.

“We lost Mike last night,” The Pinewood said in an Aug. 31 Facebook post. “He was a great chef but a better friend… there is a giant hole in our hearts… We know he’s eating a taco somewhere right now….”

Eater Atlanta reports that Blydenstein was 52 and died of natural causes.

“Prior to his years working as the executive chef at the Pinewood, Byldenstein worked for the now defunct Emeril Lagasse restaurant Emeril’s in Buckhead and at Barcelona Wine Bar,” Eater Atlanta reported. “Blydenstein has also worked with a number of well-known figures on the Atlanta dining scene, including Greg Best and Regan Smith of Krog Street Market’s Ticonderoga Club.”
