Here’s the full announcement from the Wheelhouse Facebook page:
Wheelhouse (noun): a place or situation in which one is advantageously at ease.
We are thrilled to announce the future opening of the Wheelhouse – coming soon to the neighborhood, located next door to the Medlock Gulf gas station on Scott Blvd. We look forward to reimagining this old restaurant space.
As proud members of the community, this restaurant will be built for the locals, by the locals. The Wheelhouse plans to connect with local farms and vendors to provide fresh, comforting foods and drinks in a warm and friendly environment.
Over the last few years, we have been navigating the obstacles of opening an independent, family-owned restaurant, but with permits now in hand, we are breaking ground this week. We can’t wait for you to join us for a chat, a bite, and a pint!
Tomorrow’s News Today has additional details. Per Tomorrow’s News, “Ian Macken, who is managing partner of Meehan’s in downtown Atlanta and will remain there for the foreseeable future, is involved in the new concept, but only as a consultant ahead of its opening. He will not be part of the day-to-day operations. Instead, Macken’s wife Kathryn, brother Robert, and sister-in-law Stef, will all be operating partners of Wheelhouse.”
Wheelhouse will open in early 2020, according to Tomorrow’s News. To read the full story, click here.
