The city of Tucker recently installed solar-powered flashing beacon crosswalks for local pedestrians at six different crosswalks, the majority of them placed in school zones to help students cross safely.

“This is a project that has been a priority for our Mayor and City Council for some time,” City Engineer Ken Hildebrandt said in a recent city press release. “These crosswalks will enhance visibility of our pedestrians, young and old, and in doing that it will enhance their safety. This improvement takes Tucker another step closer to being a truly walkable city.”

These crosswalks were placed at the following places, as listed in a recent city press release:

– South on Idlewood Road for Tucker Middle School

– Brockett Road, in front of Brockett Elementary School

– Henderson Road at Gleneagles Drive

– Midvale Road, in front of Midvale Elementary School

– Midvale Road at Crestcliff Drive

– Montreal Road, across from Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center
