Emory Healthcare reveals more details about plans for Northlake Mall
Emory Healthcare on Oct. 24 provided some additional information about its plans to reimagine Northlake Mall.
“ATR Corinth Partners has announced Emory Healthcare as the newest Northlake anchor tenant, leasing 224,000 square feet of space, in the soon-to-be reimagined Northlake Mall,” a press release says. “Emory Healthcare’s initial plans include corporate administrative services.”
Emory says it plans to take over the former Sears building and an additional 1 million square feet of the mall, and has more plans to expand in the future.
“Northlake gives us the opportunity to centralize corporate support services in one location for more than 1,600 employees while providing the additional benefit of direct access to on-site amenities like restaurants and retail,” Mike Mason, Emory Healthcare Vice President of Operations, said in the press release. “The property’s central location combined with easy highway and MARTA bus access, along with necessary parking also helped Emory Healthcare make the decision to lease with Northlake.”
Corinth Partners bought the mall in 2016 from WP Glimcher. The city of Tucker annexed 50 acres of the mall earlier this year.
There were no new tenants announced in the press release. Emory did say there would be some more office space, retail and “a mix of sit-down, fast casual and quick-service restaurant concepts.”
“Construction of the retail portion of the project is slated to begin in early 2020,” the press release says. “JCPenney and Macy’s will remain as anchor tenants and will be open during construction.”
