More than a year after the Decatur City Commission approved zoning for a project that involves building housing and live-work spaces on the parking lot of Thankful Baptist Church, the work is getting underway.

Curbed Atlanta reports that the town homes at the development, called Elle at Oakhurst, will start at $699,000. Stand alone homes will go for around $1.2 million, Curbed reported. Curbed also identified the builder as Cablik Enterprises.

Those prices are in line with the ones listed on the Elle at Oakhurst website.

The development will be across from The Imperial restaurant. To read the story on Curbed, click here.

The city May 2018 approved 13 housing units at the site: three single family homes on Mead Road, six town homes on Mead Road and four live-work town homes along W. College Avenue.

The church used funds from the sale to improve the space it has occupied since 1971.
