Next month, Avondale Estates will host its 27th annual Christmas Tour of Homes, offering attendees the chance to visit six local homes and view the Christmas decor at each, according to a press release from the event organizers.

The tour began as a way to show off the city’s “mix of old and new” homes. As one of the country’s earliest planned communities, Avondale Estates is home to both long-time residents and newer residents, the release said.

This year’s tour will feature homes from every decade since the city was founded, including one of the city’s newest homes, built in 2014. Each home also will have a variety of Christmas decorations, from antique decor from Germany and Spain to more designerly set-ups.

The event will take place on Sunday, Dec. 15. Attendees can park at the Avondale First Baptist Church and catch the event trolley or bus for the tour, which will last two hours. Both an afternoon and evening tour will take place.

Additionally, the First Baptist Church will present a carol show titled “Christmas in Avondale – A Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols” at 7 p.m. the same day. The event is open to tour participants and all community members.

Tickets for the tour may be purchased for $15 in advance at Avondale City Hall, Finders Keepers Furniture and Garage Door Studio, or they can be purchased for $20 on the tour day at the Avondale Community Club. To ride a trolley, reserve a spot with Margaret Lunsford at [email protected].
