DeKalb County Watershed Management says installation of the new sewer line between 241 and 211 Second Avenue is expected to be complete no later than Wednesday, Nov. 27.

“Work between 211 and 103 Second Avenue is expected to begin on Monday, Dec. 2, but could begin sooner,” DeKalb County Watershed Management says. “Installation of [the] service lateral on Hood Circle continues. Second Avenue will remain closed to through traffic between East Lake Drive and 241 Second Avenue.”

DeKalb County says Hood Circle in Oakhurst has had 12 sewer spills since January 2014, making it one of the worst sewer spill sites in the county. The county is undertaking a $3.2 million project to fix the problem.

As part of the project, Second Avenue will be affected for approximately 12 weeks, with traffic detoured accordingly. The road will be completely resurfaced when the work is complete.
