DeKalb County, GA — The DeKalb County School district on March 11 announced its plan for vaccinating teachers. The district will also offer COVID-19 testing for employees and families.

“Vaccinations will be available at the Administrative and Instructional Complex for employees only,” the school district announced. “The district has partnered with DeKalb County Board of Health, Walgreens and Briarcliff Pharmacy to administer the vaccines. Other locations are being considered for a future date.”

The district will offer COVID-19 testing at four schools Cross Keys High School, Bethune Middle School, Doraville United Elementary School and Dunwoody Elementary School—between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.  The school district partnered with Viral Solutions to offer COVID-19 testing at The Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Stone Mountain, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Testing is still available at Greater Piney Grove Church in Atlanta and at the South DeKalb Mall.

The school district has ordered 12,000 vaccination kits for employees who want the vaccine. The Board of Health will administer vaccines on March 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A registration link will go out on March 15.

“We are encouraged by the continued partnership with the DeKalb County Board of Health, and our other community partners to provide vaccines and testing,” Superintendent Cheryl Watson-Harris said in a press release. “Our vaccination and testing options provide a service for our employees and the DeKalb County community, as we transition to hybrid learning. The vaccine is not mandated, but we wanted to make sure our employees had access after the state adjusted the roll-out schedule.”
