According to the presentation attached to the March 22 agenda, “During the development of the City of Tucker’s Strategic Transportation Master Plan, several needs were identified along the Chamblee Tucker Road Corridor within the city limits of Tucker.”

Two of those needs are:

– A need to conduct vehicular speed studies along Chamblee Tucker Road and to identify opportunities to control speed.

– There may be a lack of safe pedestrian crossings of Chamblee Tucker Road between Fellowship Road at Tucker High School and Livsey Road at Livsey Elementary School. Safe pedestrian crossings in this area may provide pedestrian and bicycle access across Chamblee Tucker Road to Kelley Cofer Park and Henderson Park, as well as additional access to the schools.

The report the City Council will hear summarizes the existing conditions and list potential improvements. For more information, click here.

In other business:

– A discussion about the January 2021 interim financials.

– A discussion about the Tucker Summit CID Freight Cluster Plan. This plan was funded by the Atlanta Regional Commission with the objective of implementing transportation improvements to enhance the movement of freight throughout the Mountain Industrial Boulevard corridor and surrounding areas. A draft plan was presented at the October 26, 2020 Work Session by Larry Kaiser representing the Tucker Summit Community Improvement District, and Wade Carroll with Metro Analytics.

– A discussion about possible text amendments regarding auto uses. This change affects lots where vehicles are sold, repaired and maintained, leased and rented, as well as service stations. It extends to boats, RVs, auto parts, tires, and tow lots. This comes on the heels of a decision for the Zoning Board to uphold a decision on the Tucker Towing lot.
