Stone Mountain, GA — A Confederate Memorial Day event at Stone Mountain park won’t take place after the authority managing the park rejected a permit for the gathering, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

The Georgia chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans planned to hold the event this Saturday, according to the AJC.

In a letter, park CEO Bill Stephens said the event could pose a danger to public health or safety. To read the full story, click here.
