Tucker, GA — On Friday, May 28, 2021, City of Tucker Parks & Recreation Department dedicated the former Smoke Rise Bath and Racquet Club as Rosenfeld Park during a ceremony and plaque unveiling attended by city, county and state officials along with members of the Rosenfeld family and the community.

A founding member of Tucker’s City Council, Rosenfeld died unexpectedly in January.

On Feb. 8, Tucker’s Mayor and City Council voted unanimously to name Rosenfeld Park in his honor.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tucker Mayor Frank Auman said, “We want to remember Bill not because he was perfect but because he lived a life that was an example for us that we can aspire to.”

Auman spoke of Rosenfeld’s long-standing involvement in many community organizations and his previous service as a first responder. “These are things he did well before and not with an eye toward becoming a city council person. He became a city council person because it was a natural thing to take all of that experience and all those interests and bring them together for the benefit of all the rest of us.”

Rosenfield’s fellow city councilmember and personal friend Pat Soltys said community was what Bill was all about. “He loved his community greatly, every single person he met was important to him. He was a man of service, not just Navy service, not just paramedic, not just councilperson. But one when somebody asked can you help; he was the first to be there to say yes. “

Speaking on behalf of the Rosenfeld family, Bill’s son Corey said, “Even before today this park was special to dad and our family. His grandkids grew up swimming in that pool and playing on those tennis courts. The woodline here is where they escaped to avoid doing the dishes after a family dinner. For nearly two decades now this has been a place for us to gather with family and friends, so now when we see the name Rosenfield Park or come to visit we’ll think of dad and what he meant us. An awesome dad, a loving husband, a humble family man, a great friend to everyone he met. Someone who was always helping others, a man that loved his community, the city of Tucker and worked hard every day to make it better.”

Rosenfeld Park is located at 2088 Glacier Drive in Tucker.
