Tucker, GA — Another candidate has announced a run for Tucker City Council.

Shawn Woods, the CEO of a film equipment rental company, is running for Tucker City Council, District 1, Post 2. That seat is currently vacant and was held by Bill Rosenfeld, who passed away earlier this year. He joins Imani Barnes, an Emory University research scientist, a community educator and PhD candidate in public health who is running for Tucker City Council, District 2, Post 1. That seat is currently occupied by Matt Robbins.

In his announcement, Woods said, “Tucker is a beautiful city, budding with ambitious businesses, vibrant communities and the best residents!  I am dedicated to serving this community and excited for the opportunity to be the voice for the great people of Tucker.”

Wooods is the CEO of Lewoo Equity Partners, LLC a “competitive production equipment rental company as well as one of few minority-owned diesel fuel distribution companies in the film industry,” his campaign announcement says.

“He is known as an avid proponent and supporter of minority owned businesses – which led to him being asked to join The Westside Production Park Film Studio as the Studio Director,” his campaign announcement says.

Woods is focused on reimagining public safety, economic development and progressive, comprehensive land use and transportation planning.

“Now is the time for reimaging and creative community engagement,” Woods said. “We need to move our city forward with a new vision and a new voice. One that is inclusive for all residents of this community.  Together we can make this city a thriving place to live, work and visit.”

Woods is originally from Kentucky and relocated to Georgia in 1986. He considers Atlanta his real hometown. He’s lived in Tucker for three years.

“The giant UGA flag that flies over his front porch, gives no clue that he was born anywhere outside of the state,” his campaign announcement says. “Shawn is not only a businessman, but a husband and father of two children who loves his community.  His passion and innovative vision make him an excellent choice to represent Tucker residents.  Shawn is committed to improving the quality of life for all residents of Tucker.”
