Decaturish supporter Steve Hagen says local news keeps people informedSteve Hagen
Tucker, GA — A healthy democracy needs informed citizens.
Decaturish.com and its sibling website Tucker Observer provide in-depth local news every day. The news is free to everyone, meaning it isn’t hidden behind a paywall. That wouldn’t be possible without our 1,500 paying supporters.
Right now, Decaturish needs your help to continue providing free local news to our community. To become supporter for as little as $3 a month, visit supportmylocalnews.com.
Steve Hagen is one of our supporters. He provides a monthly contribution to Decaturish and its sibling website, the Tucker Observer.
Hagen is a resident of Tucker. He retired to the city from Miami in 2013. In Miami, he volunteered as chair of the Parks and Public Space Committee of Miami Neighborhood United for 14 years.
Hagen contributes on a monthly basis because he hopes the Tucker Observer will thoroughly cover the upcoming elections in Tucker.
“It is sad a city our size does not have at least a weekly paper [that’s] able to research and publish important stories, Hagen said. “I would rather read one good story a week about decisions leaders are making that affect local quality of life than several feel good stories we see in the printed papers delivered free. I sure don’t see the free papers writing much of value.”
People need to learn what they can’t learn without hours or research, Hagen said. Local news provides that.
Providing local journalism costs money, and what we do wouldn’t be possible without the 1,500 members of your community who support Decaturish.
Steve Hagen is one of our many paying supporters who agreed to talk to us about their reasons for supporting local news and why you should join them. We need your help. To become a paying supporter for as little as $3 a month, visit supportmylocalnews.com.
