Clarkston, GA — Election Day results for Clarkston’s mayor and city council members are in. Only 10 percent of Clarkston residents voted on Nov. 2 for mayor and City Council.

Incumbent Clarkston Mayor Beverly Burks won her re-election campaign with 95.6% of votes. The remaining 4% went to write-in candidates. Burks, who ran unopposed, was not available for comment.
Incumbent Clarkston City Council member Jamie Carroll was re-elected with 19.6% of the vote. He has served on City Council since 2017.
“Thank you so much to all my supporters who voted, volunteered, gave time and money and otherwise contributed to the campaign,” said Carroll. “I’m excited to serve Clarkston residents to the best of my ability for these next four years, and I can’t wait to work with the new council and all Clarkston residents to help Clarkston be a safer, growing community that’s welcoming to all.”
New council members are Susan Hood who won with 20.5% and Yterenickia YT Bell with 18.8% of the vote.
Hood ran on economic and residential growth that reflects the character of Clarkston, programs to help residents become first time homeowners and enhancing public safety through community policing, technology and additional police officers.
“I appreciate the support of Clarkston residents who put their trust in me to represent them in their local government,” Hood said. “I look forward to serving our wonderful city and working together with the mayor and other members of City Council.”
Bell, who served on City Council from 2018-2020, said she is honored to be elected again to Clarkston City Council.
“Thank you to all the voters, supporters, donors, volunteers and friends. We won, this was a team effort, and I look forward to serving the residents and neighbors of Clarkston for another four years alongside my colleagues. Congratulations to everyone that ran to serve and I look forward to working with you. Now, let’s get to work to continue moving this city forward for all the residents of Clarkston,” she said.
