Decatur police arrest burglary suspect who had confrontation with homeowner

Decatur, GA — Decatur Police on Tuesday morning, Jan. 18, arrested a man who broke into a house and had a confrontation with a homeowner.

Police responded to a burglary call at 5:14 a.m. in the 1300 block of Scott Boulevard.

“An adult male suspect broke the window portion of a screen door at the rear of a residence in an attempt to gain entry into the residence,” Sgt. John Bender said. “The homeowner was awakened by the sound and confronted the suspect on the rear porch of the residence. The homeowner struck the suspect and the suspect fled the area. The homeowner sustained lacerations to his hand from the broken glass.”

Officers located the 57-year-old suspect in the 1000 block of Scott Boulevard. The suspect lives in Union City, Ga. He was arrested on one count of first degree burglary.
