Decatur, GA — Decatur had its first Lunar New Year Celebration at Legacy Park on Saturday, Jan. 29. Organizer, Han Pham, a mother of two children attending City Schools of Decatur, said the celebration was a partnership of all the CSD lower elementary schools.

“It’s about educating people that this is more than just a Chinese New Year. The Lunar New Year is celebrated by lots of different cultures,” Pham said. “What we decided was to create a passport so that kids could go to each of the countries that celebrate Lunar New Year, learn a little about how they celebrate, because they celebrate differently, and get some great food too.”

2022 is the Year of the Tiger.
