Decatur, GA — City Schools of Decatur has hired a new principal to lead Westchester Elementary.

Christine Knox will take over the role, according to an announcement from the school district. She currently serves as principal at Anderson-Livsey.in Gwinnett County. Before that, she was the principal at Head Elementary in Gwinnett County. She’s also previously served as an assistant principal, a Kindergarten teacher, and an elementary special education teacher in Gwinnett and Cobb Counties.

“We are excited to welcome Ms. Knox to the CSD family,” Superintendent Maggie Fehrman said in a letter to parents. “We are still working on the exact dates for her transition to CSD.”

During the transition, Christie Manasso and Latonya Henry will serve as co-interim principals.

“Thank you to Ms. Manasso and Ms. Henry! These extraordinary people took on the interim roles with such grace, humor, and confidence and I am very grateful for their leadership,” Fehrman’s letter says. “Ms. Knox will be sharing more information about herself and her excitement about joining the Westchester Crew soon. Ms. Knox is looking forward to joining the Westchester team to build on the amazing things happening and to support the amazing staff and students learning and working together.”
