Decatur, GA — Winnona Park Elementary School’s principal is resigning at the end of the school year.

Principal Ruth Scott made the announcement in an email to parents.

“With a heart full of gratitude and fond memories, I want to share with you that I will be resigning from my position as Principal at Winnona Park at the end of this school year,” she said. “Throughout the past 4 years, I have been honored to be in a position of leadership, and I take it very seriously the immense amount of trust this community gives me. As much as I love this community and this role, I have decided to take a step back in order to focus on my personal health and my family.

She said she will work with City Schools of Decatur Superintendent Maggie Fehrman to ensure a smooth transition to new leadership.

“We will continue to share updates with you as we move through the hiring process,” Scott said. “This staff and community have been my family for the past 11 years and I will cherish the memories made here.”
