— MARTA Police Department is implementing new pay increases and hiring incentives.

The MARTA Police Department is implementing higher starting salaries for police officers and protective specialists. The agency is also implementing a 3% raise for all employees beginning in March, according to a press release.

Starting pay for the protective specialist has increased from $15 to $20 per hour, and reserve officer pay has increased to $30 per hour.

In addition to annual salary increases, police officers will receive a 2% pay increase in July and a 5% increase in July 2023.

“MARTA has an outstanding police force and it’s important we make salary and benefit adjustments to stay competitive with other law enforcement agencies, and to be able to attract and retain qualified applicants,” said MARTA Police Chief Scott Kreher.

The starting pay for newly hired police applicants is $42,078.40. Upon completion of the Police Academy, officer pay will increase according to level of education:

– High School Diploma: $43,804.80

– Associates Degree: $45,531.20

– Bachelor’s Degree: $47,340.80

All new officers will receive a $3,000 bonus upon completion of the Police Academy, training and a three-year employment agreement.

Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certified Police Officers who transfer to the MARTA police department will receive a $5,000 bonus upon completion of training and a three-year employment agreement.

MARTA has also increased tuition reimbursement for current sworn police employees to $5,000 per year and covers the annual payment of each officer’s Georgia Peace Officer Annuity Fund.

Hargrave and Associates is seeking a certified public accountant/ enrolled agent to join the growing financial service and tax accounting team at their Tucker location or remotely. Job responsibilities include maintaining, verifying and posting client financial transaction records. It also includes performing monthly, quarterly, and annual client account reconciliation. — Decatur Makers is searching for its next executive director. 

Decatur Makers Executive Director Irm Diorio announced her retirement effective June 30. A search committee of members of the board of directors, members of the makerspace and various external stakeholders have begun a search and hiring process for the next executive director. In this position, the executive director will work with the board, membership and larger community to execute strategic goals of the organization. They will also ensure a positive culture that prioritizes diversity, equity and inclusion for the membership, staff, board and broader community. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, two or more years of leadership experience in a related field, and experience doing team building through the lens of diversity, equity and inclusion, among other qualifications.

– Summer day camp counselor

–  Facility monitor

– Part-time facility attendant

– Firefighter/ EMT

– After school counselor: 2021-2022 school year
