DeKalb County, GA — The chair of the DeKalb County Democratic Party, John Jackson, is on the mend following a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Feb. 6.

The news was first announced by Kenyette Barnes, former legislative and policy director with Georgia Alliance for Social Justice. The news was also confirmed by party vice chair Karen Mixon.

“I do know he was transported to Atlanta Medical Center,” Mixon said. “He was discharged. I’m told he had a broken arm and a head injury. He was joking around with doctors. His family has come into town to take care of him. It scared me when I first got that message, but he’s OK.”

Barnes said the crash occurred on I-75/I-85.

“Given that he’s trying to heal from head injury, a bad fracture, overall trauma and get rest, we are asking people to not communicate with him for today. His phone is damaged and he doesn’t have access to his computer,” Barnes wrote on Facebook.
