Tucker, GA — Tucker City Council will meet on Feb. 28 for a special called meeting at 7 p.m., followed by a work session.

The special called meeting agenda includes a second read of the application from Chick-fil-A for a Special Land Use Permit and variances. Chick-fil-A deferred its second read from Feb. 15 to allow for more time to explore a real estate deal.

It’s the second deferral in a process that started in May 2021 to relocate Chick-fil-A from 4340 Hugh Howell Road to the former Greater Good BBQ at 4435 Hugh Howell Road.

“Chick-fil-A has come into more information,” said project engineer Bridgette Ganter at the Feb. 15 City Council meeting. “Some other information has come up and we’re not at liberty to disclose real estate. It’s still in the works, so their preference is to defer to the next Planning Commission meeting in March and then do the April and May City Council reads.”

A contract for pool operations will also be presented at the special called meeting. A work session will immediately follow slated for a presentation from Discover DeKalb and an update from Parks and Recreation.

Tucker City Council meets twice a month. The first meeting of each month is to conduct city business, vote and hold executive session when needed. The second meeting is a work session, used by council members to hear presentations, updates and plans.
