Decatur, GA — Decatur Police have identified the victim of a shooting that occurred on Jan. 28 in the 1500 block of Commerce Drive around 10:59 p.m. The victim was identified as 34-year-old Randy Sanford of Decatur.

Decatur Police responded to the incident in January, where they found an adult male victim inside an apartment at the location, seated in the living room. An unknown person fired several shots into the apartment from the outside. One of those shots struck the victim, and he was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, Decaturish previously reported.

The police department announced on Feb. 8 that Sanford later died due to injuries he sustained from the shooting on Jan. 28. The investigation revealed Sanford sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound during a previous unreported assault that occurred the weekend of Jan. 15-16, Decatur Police said in a statement.

Police are asking anyone with information about either incident to call Decatur Police Department at 678-553-6628 or Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-8477. Callers can remain anonymous, the Police Department said.
