DeKalb Police recover vehicle stolen during Stone Mountain gas station shooting

Stone Mountain, GA — DeKalb County Police are investigating a shooting at Valero gas station in Stone Mountain.

The gas station is located at the intersection Redan and Panola roads. The shooting happened on Feb. 8 at 9:30 a.m., a spokesperson for the Police Department said.

On Feb. 9, the spokesperson announced the vehicle stolen from the victim has been found.

“Investigators have recovered the vehicle stolen in yesterday’s robbery, but the suspect has not been arrested,” the spokesperson said. “If anyone has info, they’re asked to call our East Investigations Unit at 770-482-0309 or Crime stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.”

The victim is still recovering at a local hospital.

“Investigators believe the victim was at the location to service coin-operated machines when he was approached by an armed suspect,” the Police Department spokesperson said. “The suspect then shot the victim and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. The victim’s injuries are considered to be life threatening and we have not identified a suspect.”
