Tucker, GA — A water main break in the Smoke Rise area of Tucker led to homes being without water for most of April 7.

DeKalb Watershed Management emergency crews were on the scene before 10 a.m., according to residents. On Mountain Shadow Drive, homes either had no water or a “trickle.” On some streets, residents also lost power.

A Smoke Rise resident posted on social media that at 9:30 a.m. on Mountain Shadow Drive a DeKalb Watershed Management crew was on the scene with a dump truck, two flatbed trucks and several smaller repair vehicles.

Residents were in touch with DeKalb Watershed and the city of Tucker, whose Superintendent Sam Durrance tracks the time it takes DeKalb County to respond to issues.

Late on April 7 DeKalb County issued the following statement:

“Some customers are without service due to the break of an eight-inch-diameter water main on Mountain Shadow Lane in Tucker. DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews are onsite working to repair the main. The repair work is expected to be completed this evening. The break was caused by stormwater washing out a tree in the area. For more information, contact the DeKalb County Watershed Department at 770-270-6243.”

One resident reported that DeKalb County Watershed was still working at 10:45 p.m. to “get the water flowing.” Crews are back on the scene this morning.
