Tucker, GA — The Tucker City Council will meet on Monday, April 11, to discuss several major issues, including approval of spending by the Tucker Parks and Recreation department on Fitzgerald Field. Since the city acquired Fitzgerald Field, nearly $1 million has been spent on the property. 

The meeting will be held at Tucker City Hall, 1975 Lakeside Parkway, suite 350A and via Zoom.

Parks and Recreation Director Rip Roberts will present a contract for $90,815 to renovate the restrooms and concession area. 

A memo reads: “We continue to make improvements to our parks and athletic fields and this renovation project at Fitzgerald Park [field] #3 will provide adequate, updated, improved restrooms, storage, and concessions for tournaments and league play.”

The city council approved $50,000 to replace and install new water and sewer lines at Fitzgerald Field on Feb. 12. 

“It seems like every time we repair one water leak, two more spring up. Since owning the park, we have not had enough water pressure to get to the top of the hill on field 4, so those restrooms have never been open,” Robertson said in February. 

City council members will also hear a finance update from the new finance director, Beverly Ragland, and review a draft of the fiscal year 2023 budget. 

City Engineer Ken Hildebrandt will present an update on transportation projects, the Hugh Howell Multi-Use Trail project and sidewalk installation on Cooledge Road. 

Mayor Frank Auman plans to appoint members to the Construction Board of Appeals. 

Lastly, Tucker Exchange is anticipated to be deferred to continue evaluating the development’s proposed workforce housing component.

City council members will meet for a special called executive session at 5 p.m., followed by a regular business meeting at 7 p.m.
