Stone Mountain Police Chief stepping down

Stone Mountain, GA — Stone Mountain Police Chief Chancey H. Troutman announced his retirement on Monday, April 4.
The Police Chief says his retirement date is May 1.
Councilmember Clint Monroe confirmed that Troutman had resigned when contacted by Tucker Observer, but he had no additional information. Messages left with the city’s mayor and interim city manager were not immediately returned.
After this article was published, the city issued a press release stating that Troutman had retired, not resigned.
“Please be advised that after 35 years of dedicated service to the City the Chief of Police is retiring not resigning,” Interim City Manager Marie Garrett said. “I understand that an online report states that he is resigning. Please correct this to reflect that he is retiring after 35 years.”
It is the second high-profile departure in Stone Mountain. City Manager ChaQuias Miller-Thornton announced her resignation last month, and her last day was April 4.
