Stone Mountain, GA — A movie filming at Stone Mountain Park recently generated numerous complaints over its use of simulated gunfire and explosions.

The park has informed the film company that it is expected to adhere to the local noise ordinance.

“Miller Avenue Productions, LLC (Miller) has contracted with Stone Mountain Park to be on location through June 7, 2022. Miller has advised us that filming is expected to be completed by May 20 with production teardown to be finalized by June 7,” a statement from the park says. “Stone Mountain Park received concerns from area residents regarding late-night noise from the filming, and we sincerely apologize for the disturbance it has caused. This issue has been discussed with the production company, and we expect that all local regulations will be followed for the duration of filming, including the 11:00 pm noise ordinance. The location manager recently told Tucker Observer that the company is offering to relocate anyone whose sleep has been disrupted by the production.

Residents near the park received a notice from Miller Avenue Productions regarding the filming of a movie with the working title of “Road Trip.” The notice told residents the shoot would last from May 9 to May 20 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

“Please be aware: simulated gunfire will be used during filming,” the notice says. “Military themed set dressing, sound, lighting and special effects [are] associated with our filming. This may include actors dressed as armed military personnel, simulated gunfire, military tanks and vehicles. Special effects [include] controlled explosions, smoke and/or haze for atmosphere, etc.”

Tucker Observer recently tried to get in touch with the manager, and his recorded voice mail message said, “We are currently in negotiations to rearrange our filming schedule as much as possible. That is currently in process.”
