SDM Partners is presenting a first read of their plan to convert an office building and build new townhomes at 2245 and 2249 Northlake Parkway. The application was presented at to the Tucker Planning Commission on May 19, where it was approved for recommendation.

Council members will hear from Embry Development Company, who is proposing to rezone five parcels on Lawrenceville Highway to build a two-part residential development. Residents in the area previously fought off development in this location. In April, the Tucker Planning Commission voted 7-0 to recommend the development to the city council, but in 2017 and 2018 a different plan was struck down by the planning commission and city council.

The council will hear the second read of Chick-fil-A’s application to relocate to 4435 Hugh Howell, a project 13 months in the making. This will be the first opportunity for council members to speak about the plan and vote. City staff is recommending denial of the application, stating in a memo, “Staff and the applicant have not been able to agree on all elements of the submitted plan.”

Finance Director Beverly Ragland will present the revised fiscal year 23 budget for the city council’s approval. Occupational tax is expected to bring $3 million to the city in FY23, while franchise fees and insurance premium tax will bring more than $2 million each.
