Publix employee at Tucker store wins ‘Best Bagger’ contest

Tucker, GA — A Publix grocery store employee who works at a store in Tucker, GA recently won the Georgia Food Industry Association (GFIA) Best Bagger Contest held at the Omni Orlando Resort in ChampionsGate, Florida, on July 14, 2022, according to a press release.

For his efforts, he bagged $2,000 from the GFIA Education Foundation and a trophy. He’ll move on the represent Georgia at the national Best Bagger Championship at the National Grocers Association convention in Las Vegas, from Feb. 26 through Feb. 28.

“I didn’t know how well I did,” Brennan said in the press release. “When they announced me as the winner, I felt pure shock and joy.”

He faced seven opponents from other Georgia grocery stores and was judged on his “speed, weight distribution, style and technique,” the press release says.

“I was unbelievably proud of him,” said Store Manager Matt McGraw said in the press release. “Brennan has been a great addition to our Publix family since joining the team.”

If he wins in Las Vegas, he’ll get $10,000 and become the first Publix associate to win the national competition.
