DeKalb Commissioner Larry Johnson participates in White House Initiative Latino Economic Summit

DeKalb County, GA — DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson was a guest speaker White House Initiative Latino
Economic Summit hosted by the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics (White House Hispanic Initiative) and the Aspen Institute on Aug. 23 at Georgia Gwinnett College.

Johnson joined United States Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-7), U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Transportation Administration Administrator Nuria Fernandez (via video), the White House Hispanic Initiative and federal agencies including: U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Department of Transpiration, U.S. Small Business Administration and other local leaders, according to a press release.

“This is where the rubber meets the road,” Johnson said. “It is exciting to be a part of such an energetic group that is making a difference in our community. This is all about collaboration and partnership to ensure diversity and equity.”

This summit is the fifth in a series of in-person events across the country that have taken place.
