Clarkston, GA — The Clarkston Community Health Center has hired Dr. Jeremy Cole as its first executive director, a press release announced.

The health center is described as, “a comprehensive, free medical clinic that provides welcoming, culturally and linguistically sensitive health care representing the best of America.”

Cole has more than two decades of experience in the nonprofit sector, including stints with Refugee Family Services in Clarkston and UNICEF USA. He holds a Ph.D. in educational policy studies from Georgia State University and a Certificate of Non-Profit Management from the Georgia Center for Non-Profits. He’s co-chair of the Better Together Advisory Board for the city of Decatur and is a senior advisor for the global Child Friendly Governance Project, the press release says.

“I am thrilled to join this passionate team of individuals working to make healthcare beautiful in the broadest sense of that term: just, welcoming, compassionate, and human-centered,” Cole said in the press release. “Having served as a board member for the past several years, I know CCHC has been built to last, with caring hearts and a strong business plan.  I look forward to welcoming Atlanta’s broader philanthropic community to share in this vision by investing in our work to make our community healthier.”

Clinic co-founder Dr. Saeed Raees said the organization is “extremely fortunate” to have Cole joining the team.

“With his over two decades of successful experience in the non-profit world, we feel that he is the right person to take us to the next level,” Raees said in the press release.

According to the press release, the health center intends to move into a new space in DeKalb County. The space would allow the organization “to expand its impact to Georgians who have been left behind, save public money by providing comprehensive healthcare, and put forward a new, replicable model for medical care: human-centered, welcoming, comprehensive and culturally sensitive.”
